ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
At St. Barbara Catholic School, academic excellence is grounded in a personalized approach to learning that reflects our Catholic values and commitment to the whole child. As part of the Pax Christi Academies network, we benefit from shared resources, best practices, and a unified vision that prioritizes student-centered instruction.
Our core instructional strategy is the Station Rotation Model, which allows students to engage in a variety of learning experiences such as direct instruction, collaborative activities, teacher-led ability based small group instruction, and technology-based learning, all within a single classroom setting. This model supports differentiated instruction and ensures that each student receives targeted support.
At St. Barbara, we believe every child’s learning journey is unique. That’s why each student has a personalized path designed to help them grow and thrive. Using tools like the iReady Diagnostic and STAR Benchmark Assessments, we gain meaningful insights into student progress. This allows our teachers to tailor lessons, provide extra support when needed, and offer enrichment opportunities that keep students challenged and inspired.
Select middle school students demonstrating high academic performance are invited to participate in advanced coursework through Arizona State University Preparatory. Eighth-grade students may complete a high school-level Math and Reading course, while sixth and seventh graders can enroll in accelerated classes. These opportunities reflect our high expectations and belief in each student's ability to achieve excellence.
At St. Barbara, we believe that every child is created in the image of God, with unique strengths and potential. Our personalized academic approach ensures that all students are supported in their growth - academically, spiritually, and personally.
